Our charity partners Slough Outreach are appealing for donations of perishable and non-perishable food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner for homeless people who have been placed into temporary accommodation due to the COVID-19 pandemic – can you help?

The full message from Slough Outreach’s founder Shin Dhother is below.

“Hi all, hope you are well and keeping safe.

Just wanted to update you all on what we have been doing to respond to these tough times we are facing.

We've been getting so many calls recently, from people in isolation and other groups, asking for food parcels and everyday essentials. Currently we are providing around 20 parcels daily of non-perishable food, a few meals, sandwiches and other everyday items but it's now getting a bit too much carry on with the resources available.

Langley College have kindly offered Slough Outreach access to storage space and also offered to prepare cook hot meals from their huge commercial kitchen. They are ready to start cooking hot meals from Monday. We are so grateful to the college principal, Kate Webb and Gurpreet Nizzar for this very kind offer at this very difficult time.

As you are aware I have been campaigning tirelessly for the homeless to be provided with food and safe accommodation to live in and it seems, sadly, it has taken this crisis for the government to do this. The government has said all councils are to house anyone rough sleeping by this weekend so they can be isolated to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Slough Borough Council and Slough CVS have set up a coordinated response to the COVID-19 crisis (https://sloughcvs.org/covid19/) and I am supportive of this approach.

Our service as Slough Outreach has been asked to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for 30 people the council have put into temporary accommodation. So this means we need to prepare 50+ meal parcels daily.

Slough Outreach is a cashless operation and do not take and give money. We rely on the kind donations of items to make our food parcels to give to those in need.

If you or anyone you know can help with providing perishable and non-perishable food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner please contact me directly or email info@sloughoutreach.org

We would appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you and stay safe.”
