Slough Town Ladies raise £2,660 for NHS Charities

Slough Town Ladies raise an amazing £2,660 for NHS Charities after completing their sponsored running and walking challenge.

30/05/20

Slough Town Ladies have raised an amazing £2,660 for NHS Charities after completing their sponsored running and walking challenge with days left to spare.

The ladies initially set a £500 target for donations, and set out to collectively walk/run 812 miles in the month of May - the distance between the hospitals in Falmouth and Wick - in aid of NHS staff across the UK who are working tirelessly and selflessly to help beat COVID-19.

After reaching their goal early on, they changed their ‘route’ to increase the distance to 1,083 miles – but completed that in just 15 days! The team then decided to add the distance back to Arbour Park to their challenge, giving a huge total of 1,751 miles which was completed last Thursday.

All exercise was undertaken individually and not as a team due to social distancing, and the distance covered was monitored on fitness apps such as Fitbit and Strava.

We would like to congratulate the Ladies team for completing the challenge and for raising such a fantastic sum, and also thank everyone who sponsored them or followed their progress on social media.

Donations can still be made via this JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/slough-town-ladies-fc
