Squad news: Billericay Town

Jon Underwood names the squad to travel to Billericay Town tomorrow.

15/10/21

We travel to Essex tomorrow to take on Billericay Town, who will have their new manager Jody Brown in the dugout for the first time after he watched them pick up a great win at Dulwich last weekend, writes Jon Underwood.

It can be hard to prepare too thoroughly to play a side with a new manager as he will no doubt want to make a few changes and put his own stamp on the team, so we have focused very much on ourselves this week.

Having watched the Ebbsfleet game back during the week there was so much to be positive about from that performance. For 70 minutes we stood toe to toe with one of the best two teams in the league in my opinion, but games can turn on key moments and having had a big penalty decision turned down at one end (more of a penalty than the one given against us we felt!) we conceded a goal 60 seconds later and in the end the game got away from us.

Football can be a cruel game at times, but we can't feel sorry for ourselves. Our focus tomorrow is to put in another positive performance, just like we have in the last two league games, and to play with the belief that this run of results will turn and that tomorrow can be our day.

One real plus this week has been a return to full training for Warren Harris who has been out since pre-season. Tomorrow will come a little soon for him but if he can come through another week of training next week, we expect him to be ready to return to action.

We do have a couple of fitness tests tomorrow and will travel with the following 17-man squad.

Jonathan North, Josh Jackman, Sean Fraser, Freddie Grant, Mark Nisbet, Lee Togwell, Gabe George, George Hunt, Aaron Kuhl, Scott Davies, Matt Lench, Eitel Goueth, Max Worsfold, Selim Saied, Joe Lawal, Tom Derry, Ben Harris.
