Sam Togwell and Dan Roberts scored as Slough Town were victorious in this pre-season match at Stag Meadow, former home of the Rebels for four seasons.

Slough’s squad included three trialists, including midfielder Olly McCoy, who also played at Bracknell on Saturday.

The Rebels were able to give every player in the 18-man squad valuable minutes, including a full 90 minutes for Sam Togwell, Jack McKnight and a trialist at left-back.

In extremely gusty conditions, Slough had the wind blowing their way in the first half, but were unable to find the breakthrough until the very stroke of half time, when Sam Togwell nodded home from a corner.

Up to that point, Windsor goalkeeper Nojus Trinovas – previously with Slough – had made some super saves to keep the scores level, most notably a close-range stop to deny Warren Harris and a block with a leg from Josh Jackman.

Warren Harris also struck wide from the edge of the box, and Jackman curled an effort wide on his left foot moments later.

Slough made several changes at half time and almost went further ahead, Sam Togwell again seeing a header blocked in the goalmouth.

Dan Roberts then lifted a shot just over the bar, but did register a goal with 72 minutes played. McCoy burst down the right and beat Trinovas to the ball, whipping in a cross which Roberts nodded in from inside the six yard box.

Trinovas made another good save from Roberts with a quarter of an hour remaining as Slough kept pushing for more.
