Slough Town Ladies suffer first defeat

Slough Town Ladies suffer defeat for the first time this season.

17/09/19

Slough Town Ladies suffered defeat for the first time this season at Ascot Ladies Reserves.

The Rebels started well and kept possession well working the ball through the thirds.

In a first half of few chances Slough played the better football and created the better chances with the best falling to Sam McKenzie who narrowly shot wide from 12 yards out.

Ascot started the better after the break with Chloe Hetherington pulling off several saves to deny the hosts. A crazy three minutes saw Ascot score two quick goals and the Rebels looked deflated. In a game of few chances, they were now facing their first defeat of the season.

With 15 minutes to go Samantha McKenzie was put through by Nikhita Sangha and from 25 yards her shot squeezed under the body of the Ascot keeper, and it was game on at 2-1.

This brought life back into the game, and the Rebels were camped in the Ascot half with half chances falling to Charli Davies, Lucy Passfield and Alice Heady.

Leanne Gibson struck the bar with a thunderous free kick from 30 yards, which led to a goalmouth scramble and resulted in Harlie Clark shooting narrowly over the bar.

The Rebels’ luck was out and Ascot held on until the end, winning 2-1.

Slough’s Player of the Match was Chloe Hetherington.
