Club statement: Changes to board

A statement from the club as Adrian Gomm joins the board, with John Porter stepping down.

16/08/22

It is with great pleasure we announce that Adrian Gomm has been promoted to the board of Slough Town Football Club.

Everyone knows Ade from Rebels Radio and various other roles at Arbour Park including tannoy announcements, but he is pivotal in making matchdays work. He works tirelessly behind the scenes and we are really pleased to have him as part of the team.

After nine years of serving the club in a number of different capacities, John Porter has stepped down from his role on the board. John started off as commentator on Rebels Radio and eventually became Chairman. Most recently, John was a director and member of the steering group but he felt that, due to time constraints and work commitments he was not able to carry out the role in the way he would wish to and to the standards required, particularly over the last 18 months.

We would like to thank John for all his hard work and dedication to the club. John will be missed from the board but he remains a season ticket holder and we will of course see him at games.

John added the following: “It was a privilege and honour to serve the club. I have made lifelong friends and memories. I would like to thank the club’s volunteers for all their help and support, with a special mention to the committees. I am proud of what we have achieved. I won’t be a stranger – as a season ticket holder you will still see me at matches cheering on the Rebels to further success.”

We have also asked Matt Webb and Tom Gathern to become members of the steering committee. They are both ‘unsung heroes’, who manage our communications and web presence with real professionalism despite having growing families and the commitments that brings. We know Tom and Matt will bring an exciting new angle to the steering committee and we are pleased to have them on board.
