After seven years at Slough Town as a player and later assistant manager, Lee Togwell has decided to leave the club.

The 35-year-old made a total of 293 appearances during his time with the club, scoring 21 goals. Among his achievements were winning promotion to National League South in 2017/18 and winning the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup the following season. He was also voted as Players’ Player of the Season in both seasons.

Lee first took on the responsibility of a player/coach role at the start of the 2017/18 season and was appointed as assistant manager to Scott Davies in November 2022.

The demands of playing football at Step 2 level, along with having a young family were major factors in Lee’s decision. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future and we thank him for his outstanding service to the club.

Scott Davies added: “It’s a sad day for us all that Togs is leaving the club.

“As a player and a coach, he’s always set the standard of how to conduct ourselves on and off the pitch.

“Togs is unique in many ways, a quiet character but so well respected by the playing staff and supporters because of how he’s applied himself when it comes to Slough Town Football Club.

“I, for one, will certainly miss sharing a pitch with him along with the hole he leaves in our management team. He’s been everything I could have wanted in an assistant manager/coach since taking over and I’m extremely grateful for the work he’s put in over the past 6 months.

“It’s not a ‘goodbye’ from us, but hopefully a ‘see you soon’ as he knows that he will go down in history as a Slough Town legend for what he’s given to the club.

“In the meantime, we will be looking to find a worthy replacement to fill the void left by Togs. A role we will consider carefully before making any decisions as the coaching role is an integral part of the plan we have in place going into next season.

“Thanks again Togs, and good luck.”

Lee Togwell commented: “Thank you very much to everyone who has been involved with Slough Town whilst I’ve been at the club. You made me and my family feel very welcome, and I’ve appreciated the celebrations when we’ve won and the support when we’ve lost.

“I take with me many memories, lessons and great moments that will live with me forever.

“I wish the club every success for the future and who knows what the future holds for me.”
