On Thursday evening the Slough Town first team visited the children’s ward at Wexham Park Hospital to deliver some festive cheer.

Armed with sackful of presents, the first team players and management staff - plus special guest Santa Claus - took time out of training to spend some quality time with the children, talking to both them and their parents.

Manager, Scott Davies commented: “It was extremely rewarding to visit the children’s ward and hand out some presents.

“As we all know, Christmas is a time that all children look forward to, but upon arrival at the hospital we soon realised that sometimes that can be taken away from you.

“It was definitely humbling to see many unfortunate babies and young children, who could end up spending Christmas Day in hospital, so for us to bring a smile to their faces for a moment or two was lovely to see.

“Yella was the driving force behind the idea. His family spent time at Great Ormond Street Hospital where one of his daughters was battling meningitis, and to this day he has vowed to make sure that he does his utmost to give back each year, as thanks for the great care that the doctors and nurses provide day in, day out throughout the year.

“Our staff and management dug deep into their own pockets and were then supported on top of that by the club to get some fantastic presents.

“Lucy Tebbitt did a great job of helping co-ordinate the visit, along with Sue Shiel who brought some goodies from the club shop and Ade Gomm who took the photos.

“A brilliant achievement from all at the club. I’d like to thank you all for your efforts!”

We would like to issue a huge thank you to Yella for all his efforts in raising money and organising the visit, plus thanks to Lucy and Sue, and of course the fantastic staff on the children’s ward at Wexham Park Hospital.
