Despite playing with a changed line-up, the Rebels extended their winning run to three in a row in a game that turned out to be a foggy night at Arbour Park, writes Adam Novysedlák.

As Slough’s U23s played a friendly game behind closed doors against Charlton Athletic U23s on Friday afternoon, there were a lot of debut players in the starting eleven for the home side.

The beginning of the game was very careful from both sides as neither wanted to give away a chance.

The home team opened the scoring after about a quarter of the game. Danilo Pereira received a great through ball, tricked his man and got the breakthrough goal for Slough. 1-0

Rebels extended their lead about ten minutes later. Sam Winsbury found Danilo Pereira who headed the ball over the keeper and into the net. 2-0

Just before half an hour of play Slough added another goal. A cross wasn’t dealt with by the away goalkeeper and Johnivy Williams struck it into the goal. 3-0

After 36 minutes the opposition scored one to get back into the game. A free kick from the right side to the far post was returned in front of the goal where the Cardinals player tapped it in. 3-1

Into the second half, Woking made two substitutions as they tried to get back into the game, but their plans were broken only few seconds after the break. Abdirahman Mohamed made a good ball to Williams who ran at the goal, but the away defender dragged him down which saw him receive a red card.

Slough used this advantage immediately, following the sending off as Brandon Rooks scored an incredible free kick goal, curling it over the wall into the top corner! 4-1

Woking managed to get one more goal in the 63rd minute. A shot from outside the box into the top corner was too much for George Rose who couldn’t keep it out. 4-2

Just around 20 minutes before the final whistle, Slough’s third goal-scorer was forced to leave the pitch. Williams was constantly pushed from the back but his response was awarded a red card.

With another win, Rebels comfortably sit at the top of the Suburban Football League with a 13-point lead over their next opponents Chippenham Town.
