Slough Town’s pre-season campaign continued at Wilks Park on Saturday, where they fell to a 3–1 defeat against Flackwell Heath in hot and testing conditions.
The Rebels named a squad blending senior players with fresh talent from the club’s Elite Development Squad. Early signs were promising, with Slough settling into possession and creating the first real opening of the game - Nnaemeka Anyanwu neatly skipped inside his marker before playing a perfectly weighted pass through to Wiktor Makowski, who got there ahead of the goalkeeper but was unable to convert.
Despite the positive start, it was the hosts who went ahead in the 12th minute with a well-taken free-kick after a short stoppage in play. Slough suffered a blow shortly after as Aaron White was forced off with an injury and replaced by Armani Church.
Flackwell Heath doubled their lead late in the half, but Slough ended the first 45 minutes strongly. A flowing move involving the Trialist, Makowski and Jaiden Drakes-Thomas opened up space on the right-hand side, with the resulting effort drawing a smart save to deny the Rebels. Moments later, Noah Hay unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box which the goalkeeper tipped onto the top of the crossbar.
The visitors pulled one back shortly before the hour mark. A ball over the top of the Flackwell Heath defence released Wiktor Makowski in behind, and the striker made no mistake - driving forward and blasting an emphatic finish past the onrushing goalkeeper to make it 2–1.
Just as momentum looked to be swinging in Slough’s favour, the hosts restored their two-goal cushion with a third goal, shortly after Yehor Lomov had forced another fine stop with a long-range effort.
The remainder of the game saw fewer chances, with the heat and a number of rolling substitutions disrupting the rhythm. First Team Coach Ryan Case even stepped in late on to replace Peter Ojemen as Slough looked to manage minutes across the squad.
Next up for the Rebels is a home fixture against Brentford B at Arbour Park on Tuesday evening.
