SLOUGH Town repeated their now familiar habit of conceding late goals when Dagenham scored twice in the last 13 minutes on Saturday to complete an Isthmian League double over their old rivals.

Town have now conceded at least one late goal in each of their last four games and manager Joe Arpino admits that it is due to a lack of concentration and discipline. He was particularly upset by this latest defeat because Slough had stormed into a sixth minute lead and had looked capable of taking the Dagenham defence apart in the first 15 minutes.

The Slough boss declared: "There was only one side in it for 60 minutes but we lost because some of our players did not discipline themselves - they stopped doing their job." Ironically, Mr. Arpino had dropped his ace forward Paul Lee because he felt Lee had not done enough work in midfield. But against Dagenham his replacement, Barry Friend, and Dave Russell, the other flank player in Slough's front four, both failed to drop back sufficiently in the last 30 minutes, when midfield men Terry Reardon and Alan Gane were struggling.

Earlier in the game Slough had cried out for someone with Lee's skills to finish off their good approach work. Kieron Somers, the man many Slough fans feel should be dropped, showed improved form early on when he brought a good save from Huttley and then put Slough ahead in the sixth minute. Friend's corner from the right found Somers unmarked at the far post and he promptly headed home.

Two minutes later Somers nodded down another Friend corner for Beyer to fire inches wide.
Dagenham eventually came to life, with Harris and Borland going close and Fox bringing a good save from Porter. But Slough were still looking dangerous and, after Huttley had tipped over a dipping shot from Friend, they opened up the visitors' defence again for Somers to volley over.

Porter was soon in action in the second half, saving from Dunwell with his feet in a goalmouth scramble. Slough began to lose their rhythm and Dagenham, having brought on substitute Colin Mitchell for Harris, mounted some dangerous attacks, with Wellman and Dunwell making penetrating runs.

Dagenham's equaliser came in the 77th minute. The ball was hooked across by Borland and Fox sent it to Welch who shot firmly into the net.

After Porter had foiled Fox by tipping over a hard shot, further slack marking by SIough led to Dagenham getting in another telling cross which resulted in a fortunate 89th minute winner. Wellman hit a long, high ball into the goalmouth where Dunwell connected with his head and Gane deflected the ball past Porter into his own net.
