Premier Midweek FL
Slough Town had a lucky escape on Tuesday evening when they featured in a goal-less draw with Southall at Western Road in a Premier Midweek Floodlight League game. After an even first half Southall were clearly the better team after the interval.
Slough did not play Day or Eaton, who the previous evening were on duty for the English amateur XI at Plymouth, Tottman and Gaine the newcomer from Epping taking their places.
The night was bitterly cold and with only a few spectators the game lacked sparkle. There was not much between the teams in the first 45 minutes, with both sides going close to scoring on occasion.
After the break, Southall looked the better team and the, Slough goal had some lucky escapes. In the 70th minute Giggle was pulled off and substitute Jamieson took his place.
The nearest Slough got to scoring was in the 79th minute when Chatterton fired in a fine shot which skimmed the bar. In injury time Tottman shot inches wide.
