Warren Harris scored his fourth goal in his last five games, and Dan Roberts scored his second of the season as Slough extended their unbeaten run with this win at Eastbourne Borough.
It’s now seven games unbeaten for the Rebels who, after losing their first three, now find themselves in the top half of the table after three draws and four victories.
Slough enjoyed their time at Priory Lane last season – having won three points in National League South and also come through an FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying tie – and set about securing another win early on, with the pace of Dan Roberts forcing Jordan Rose to concede a corner.
The opening quarter of the game was a scrappy affair in which the hosts lost Tobi Adebayo-Rowling to injury. They would also be forced to replace another defender, Jordan Rose later in the half.
With half an hour played, Slough had a sniff of goal when a free kick was just too high for George Wells to meet at the far post.
But then on 38 minutes, Slough had the lead. Roberts struck a shot across goal which looked to be heading wide, but Warren Harris reacted quickest and lunged in to nudge the ball in from close range.
Early in the second period, Eastbourne missed a good chance to level the scores when substitute Nick Wheeler fired over the bar from ten yards out after being found by ex-Woking man Greg Luer.
Slough doubled their lead on 66 minutes as they caught their hosts napping at the back. Scott Davies slipped the ball through to the hard-working Roberts, who managed to stay onside before bearing down on Tom Hadler’s goal and playing it past him.
It was almost three for the Rebels shortly after, as only desperate defending from Hadler and Roberto Nditi kept the ball out after Warren Harris prevented Roberts from tapping in his second goal.
Eastbourne’s task was then made even more difficult as Nditi was dismissed after picking up his second yellow card.
Slough substitute Francis Amartey, who replaced Roberts just minutes earlier, went close to scoring his first of the season but Hadler did well to deny him – however the Rebels had done more than enough to earn all three points.
